Atheist Code

The Atheist Code is for participants on atheist newsgroup alt.atheism. The canonical location for the spec is http://www.lcs.net/chris/atheist_code.html; however, that page was not archived.

From users of the code whose messages were archived (1, 2, 3), it appears that the code typically begins with ACv1.0 and contains three-letter group tags, each followed by a number from 0 to 5, that resemble RPG “stat blocks”. These tags were partially identified in a 1997 message and include:

• DUR - DURation
• STR - STRength
• BIT - BITterness
• ACT - ACTivism
• DEF
• DEB
• CON
• SLM
• XTN
• PUB

Others have observed the lack of an extant spec, so unfortunately this code may be lost to history.
