Werewolf Code

The Werewolf Code is a code for werewolf fans to describe their ideal werewolf lore and definition (as opposed to their own personal characters). It was created in the forums of THE PACK, a long-running forum for werewolf movie fans including filmmaker Tony Brownrigg.

Just for fun, I threw this together, because I have seen similar for other things (such as dragons and furries), but have not seen anything like it for werewolves yet.

Now, this deviates from the norm a bit, because rather than describing yourself or your avatar, you are describing what you think werewolves should be. It cannot, of course, possibly take into account every viewpoint, but I am willing to revise it as necessary if I left anything important out (as I am like to do with such an early version).

Author Vilkacis wrote the code in June 2005, but after discussion in August, he removed it in September 2005 in favor of a similar quiz:

I’m ditching the Werewolf Code for now. I may bring it back later, but it’s gone at the moment. I’ve replaced it with something different.

This is what I have done:

I have made a Werewolf Archetype Quiz. Answer the questions, and it will try to tell you which werewolf archetype you best fall under (with nifty pictures by Hamster and SabreWereWolfQueen_84).

After you take the quiz, it will give you (among other things) a Werewolf Number (instead of a Code). You can take the Number and put it in the interpreter and it will spit out all the choices that person made on the quiz. Even better, in addition to the Number, you will also be given a direct link to the interpreted page and a couple other extra things.

I probably won’t release the quiz to the public until all of the images are done.

A Werewolf Code encoder (v0.2 - v0.3) was apparently hosted briefly on http://thevilkacis.net/, but this was not archived, and no subsequent versions of the Werewolf Code, Werewolf Quiz, or any web tools were archived.

As of November 2025, the spec is once again available for registered users of the forum.
